RULES OF DEBATE
All questions and comments are addressed to
the chair
The maker of the motion has the right to speak
first
A member may only speak twice to the motion
The discussion should not attack another
member or refer to another member
The maker of the motion may not
speak against the motion, but may vote against it.
The discussion should be in a positive light
The chair may not take part in a debate or express
an opinion while in the chair
Discussion time is limited by the bylaws or 10
minutes
Motions should be well thought out, include as
many details as possible and be complete
LESSON PLAN
The key to this lesson is to make it fun
for your students.
Allow the students to choose the name of their
organization – encourage them to choose
something they are passionate about.
Allow them to use all scripts and props
During presentation, remind other students that
they will lose points if they laugh etc.
