RULES OF DEBATE
All questions and comments are addressed to
the chair
 The maker of the motion has the right to speak
first
 A member may only speak twice to the motion
 The discussion should not attack another
member or refer to another member

The maker of the motion may not
speak against the motion, but may vote against it.
 The discussion should be in a positive light
 The chair may not take part in a debate or express
an opinion while in the chair
 Discussion time is limited by the bylaws or 10
minutes
 Motions should be well thought out, include as
many details as possible and be complete

LESSON PLAN
The key to this lesson is to make it fun
for your students.
 Allow the students to choose the name of their
organization – encourage them to choose
something they are passionate about.
 Allow them to use all scripts and props
 During presentation, remind other students that
they will lose points if they laugh etc.
 Group grade and or written test

