Vision :
To provide valuable support to emerging SME BEE businesses in the rural areas of South Africa.
To ensure the success of each SME BEE business through the achievement of profitability and
sustainability.
To contribute to the economic growth in the rural SME sector of the South African economy.
Mission Statement:
To identify and assess potential BEE SME opportunities and to match human potential with the
opportunity.
To co- ordinate key partners to assist in all aspects of business start up, development and growth.
To provide mentorship support through 3 identifiable phases.
To provide a full bookkeeping and administration service to each SME business in the first 2 phases.
Training and developing of shareholders to ensure that the skills potential required in owning and
managing a business successfully, is fully realised.
WHAT IS SINGAYENZA & WHAT DO WE OFFER?
Meaning “We can do it” in Xhosa, SINGAYENZA believes that they offer the
key to successful BEE SME development.
Situated in the rural Breede River Valley of the Western Cape, South Africa,
this dynamic team offers the following:

Identification and assessment of BEE SME opportunities.
Co- ordination of key partners to assist in all aspects of business start up,
development and growth.
Mentorship support through 3 identifiable phases.
A full bookkeeping and administration service to each SME business.
OUR AIMS, OBJECTIVES & COMPETANCIES
Phase 1
SINGAYENZA will co-ordinate the following services to each SME business:

Identification of the SME opportunity and assessment, including a feasibility study.
Development of a sound business plan.
Business Registration, appropriate to the specific business.
Sourcing of funds from both Government and the Private sector.
Business training in all aspects of managing the SME Specialist training in the field of the specific business. This will
include training in the latest technology in the field of Information Communication Technology.

In addition to this, SINGAYENZA, will provide the following services to each SME project:

Project Management which will include:
Hands-on mentorship providing assistance and support in all aspects of business management.
A full bookkeeping and administration service which includes marketing and publicity.
The skills training focus during Phase 1 will focus on Life Skills and Self Development.

Phase 2
•
During this phase SINGAYENZA will co-ordinate services which will ensure the growth and success of the SME
business.
•
The bookkeeping and administration service will continue to be provided for as long as it takes for shareholders to
become fully competent in this business function. Training during this phase will focus on these areas of the business.
Phase 3
•
This 3rd and final phase is reached when full proficiency in all aspects of the business is achieved. The time frame for
attaining this level will vary from SME to SME but a 3 – 5 year period is envisaged.

HIGH VEG ORGANICS Co-op Ltd
‘Growing Local’

An organic vegetable project at Highlands Stud in Robertson is owned by 7 shareholders and gives employment to a
further 4 previously unemployed workers.
Since its inception in November 2007, High Veg Organics has provided organically grown vegetables to the Highlands
Stud and Graham Beck Wines Creche and Youth Centre.
Their other markets include the Organic Box, which supplies a box of organic fruit, vegetables and herbs to some 200
customers in Cape Town on a weekly basis as well as to Burchells Foods who supply Pasta Sauces and Pestos to a
Leading National Retailer.
This project is currently exploring the opportunity of establishing a naturally grown vegetable box delivery service in the
area using vegetables produced by local farmworkers from their own vegetable gardens.

NEW BEE SME’S
LONG MOUNTAIN BAKERY & CATERING Co-op Ltd
“ Empowering our local community”
With premises in the newly completed Graham & Rhona Beck Skills Centre in Robertson, this business is owned by 5
shareholders. Long Mountain provides a full catering facility to the Skills Centre with a Bakery that supplies freshly
baked bread, delivered, on a daily basis to farm workers in the vicinity.
WOODWORKING OPPORTUNITY
•
With the support of Breede River Winelands Municipality and the Dept of Economic Development & Tourism, an
exciting new BEE business is set for the Breede River Winelands area. Barrel Furniture, manufactured from old / used
wine barrels was initiated by farmworkers in the region to develop skills in another field, and is set to be formalised into
a 100% Black Owned business comprising of 8 shareholders.
WORKWEAR OPPORTUNITY
•
Singayenza is currently in discussions to set up a business in Ashton to manufacture work wear for the agricultural
sector. This business will provide shareholding and employment to 12 previously unemployed women.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
•
Become the Parent to a project by providing assistance in the form of donor funding or soft loans.
•
We are seeking funding from Government Departments, Municipalities, Foundations, Charities, Corporations and
Private Individuals.
•
Become a Partner to a project by providing specific Skills or Business Management training and infrastructural
support.
•
Become an integral part of the success of a business by providing any ‘hands on’ advice as much or as little as you
choose.
•
Quarterly business & financial reports will be forwarded to all investors so that they are regularly informed of
business’s progress.
How are the funds to be used:•
To buy necessary equipment and for business set up.
•
For capital and operational costs for the first 12 months.
•
For skills training and business management training for all shareholders.

MEET THE SINGAYENZA TEAM
•
SAMANTHA SHARKEY, with a background in Management, Entrepeneurship and Community Development,
together with 20 years experience of working with the local Robertson farming community. She is currently
completing her B.Com degree specialising in Business Management.
•
EUNICE VAUSE, BSc, UED, 1st year B.Com. Eunice brings with her 40 years experience in Accounting and
Business Management.
•
PATIE CHIKWAVAIRE, BSc (Hons) Information Systems. Patie joins Eunice as part of the Accounts Team.
•
CARMEN ARENDSE, With a background in Retail and IT, Carmen deals with Administration of the SME’s.
