MQC – Program
After completing the course, you have the option to
complete a final exam (now available online) and
become an ‘MQC Specialist’
MQC Specialists are recognized throughout the
industry for their high level of proficiency in
mailpiece design and addressing standards.
You will receive a certificate and a lapel pin.
This certification is valid for a two-year period.

Option 1: The Administrator’s Guide is helpful for facilitating the
course to a group of students. It is available for $5 each.
Option 2: The Student Guide can be downloaded free of charge.
However, hardcopy Student Guides are available for $20 each.
Option 3: The Resource Kit contains useful tools to assist you in
completing the course. It includes:
• Postal Templates
• MQC Resource Guide – This provides descriptions and online
locations to the Quick Service Guides, DMM, Postal Bulletin,
Memo to Mailers, MailPro, RIBBS and much more. The
Resource Kit is available for $5.
Option 4: The Final Examination is available in hardcopy or online. The hardcopy includes the final examination only at a cost
of $25. The on-line final examination includes the final
examination only electronically at a cost of $12.

CMDSM – The Examination
135 multiple-choice questions and five essay questions
Four-hour exam. Two for multiple-choice and two hours for the essay
Computer based testing program- computer provided
Multiple-choice questions are one point & essay questions are10 points.
185 total points possible with a score of 75% or more to pass.
No specific references to rates, just an understanding differences:
– "Standard Mail" rates are less than "First Class" rates
– Overnight air services are more than ground-services
– "Next-Day-Morning" rates are more than "Second-Day-Afternoon"
rates
Essay questions do not have a specific answer & provide an
opportunity to demonstrate:
– Knowledge and understanding of the mail and distribution
management industry
– Ability to develop creative solutions
– Ability to communicate your ideas to employees as well as
management in a logical sequence
Must be able to communicate effectively through writing
A mentor or study group is recommended
The exams are given at MailCom Atlantic City and Las Vegas
