Negotiating can be risky!
• Be reasonable -- it is not a good idea to set
ultimatums unless you are willing to walk away
• Remember -- a job offer can be pulled if the
employer feels they cannot meet your requests
• Juggling offers is tricky -- do not get caught in
the trap of pitting one offer against another
• If you communicate “this is what it will take to
get me to say yes” -- say yes if they meet your
requests

• Get your final offer in writing
• No need to accept immediately
• Accept the offer in writing
• Decline your other offers in
writing
