Literary, Dance, Drama, Visual Arts Canterbury minimum of 2
credits per year – some courses outside of regular school day
Arts Canterbury teachers will help students select the right course
codes for their program next year if you need assistance.
Add the total number of credits you have selected– grades
9 through 11 should total minimum of 8 credits.
Grade 12 must have a total of 6 credits, 3 each semester.
This does not include courses taken outside of the regular
school day. For example, Outdoor Ed or extra Arts
Canterbury Courses ie portfolio or company.

• Course selection requires time!!
• The school timetable is built based on student
selections—the ones that you are making now.
• There is not a section of every course every
period!!!
• All timetable changes and in particular level
changes are often NOT possible once the
timetable has been set.

Access the website from the Canterbury High
School Website which will have the instructions,
applications for eLearning, SHSM’s and focus
programs

How do i create my login account?
Click on the “New Users Sign-In” link to create a
new account.
In the “Student Information” area, enter your own
information. (If you do not know what your “Student
No:”, or your “OEN” is, please see your report card
•
Choosing your Password
In the “Choosing Your User Name and Password” area,
create your own “User Name”, and “Password”. Please
note that once your “User Name” is created, you
cannot modify it.

“User Name” must be from 6 to 20 characters long
“Password” must be from 6 to 16 case sensitive
characters, including upper case and lower case
letters, numbers, and an underscore (“_”).
In the “Recalling Your Password” area, enter a security
question with an answer that is easy for you to
remember..
Enter your email address. This field is important, since
the course requests you enter on-line, is confirmed via
this email address. Once all the required information is
entered, click on the “Submit” button to have your account
created.
How do I enter course requests online?
•

With your web account created, login to the application by
entering your “User Name” and “Password”, and click on
the “Submit” button.
If the login is successful, the application will bring you to
the “Course Request” tab.
•
In the “Selected School” field, make sure it displays the school
name to which you want to enter course request. From the
“Make your selection” area, select your course request
preference.

By Reference – A list of all courses in alphabetical order
By Requirement Areas – A list of courses based on the
selected requirement area (Math, Science, French etc)
By Custom – A list of courses that matches with what you
enter in the blank field. For example, if you type “ENG”, the
application will display only the courses starting with “ENG”
Entering your courses
• If you do not have the prerequisite this
program will not accept your selection
• Students in the Arts Canterbury program
should enter the course codes provided by
your Arts Teacher
• The deadline is February 19 after which
point the website is closed!!!! You will no
longer be able to access the website for
course selection

CHS Option Sheets: Checklist
In order to make sure that your course selections
are submitted by the due date, Friday February
19th, please follow these simple steps.

Create your user account.
Make your course selections.

Double-check you have included your required
courses.
Double-check you have the right number of
courses.
Click “Submit.”
Click “Report.” Print your report (the summary of
your course selections).
Sign your report and have your parent/guardian sign
your report.

Print the media permission form (found on the
Canterbury website).
•

Fill it out and have the form signed by your
parent/guardian.
Bring in all of the completed and signed
paperwork to your period 1 teacher before Friday
February 19th.
