 1.Приобщение учащихся к истории, традициям, социокультурному наследию страны изучаемого языка.

 3. Создание преобладающей мотивации познавательной активности учащихся.

 4. Развитие у учащихся способностей использовать иностранный язык как инструмент общения в диалоге культур и цивилизаций современного мира.

 The Scottish national flower is the thistle, a prickly-leaved purple flower which was first used in the 15 th defence.

 A special criss-cross pattern. There are many different tartan patterns. Each Scottish family or “clan” has its own tartan, e.g. the MacDonald Tartan.

 It’s a length woollen cloth (8m), pleated except for sections at each end. A goatskin pouch or sporran is worn at the front of the kilt.

 The national musical instrument which once led Scottish soldiers into battle. Not everyone likes the sound but every town has its own bagpipe band.

 Before 1707 there was the Scottish monarchy. In 1707 Scotland joined England. The most famous kings today are Macbeth and Mary.

 They include tossing the caber, putting the weight, throwing the hammer, wrestling, dancing and piping competition.

LOCHS

 A loch means ‘a lake’ in Scottish Gaelic. Loch Ness is famous because of the monster which is supposed to live there. It is informally called Nessy.

WHISKY

 A strong alcoholic drink which gets its special taste from Scotland’s fresh highland water.

 They often call it “Scotch”.

 Haggis is Scotland’s best-known regional dish which is accompanied by mashed potatoes and mashed swede or turnips. It’s extremely tasty!
