TRANSFER OF CREDIT
Up to 6 credits from another master degree
Up to 12 credits from other graduate studies (no
degree received)
Grades must be a “B” or better
Must represent a letter grade (i.e., pass/fail & cr/no cr do
not transfer)
MIGS – Michigan Intercollegiate Graduate Studies:
course enrollment outside EMU but in Michigan at
specific universities

INCOMPLETE GRADES
“Incomplete” used when getting a B or better grade
for 50% of the work – faculty gives an “I” grade.
Grade change: 1-3 years to complete the work.

REPEATING COURSES
A graduate course may be repeated once if the grade is
a B- or lower
The second grade is used in the GPA calculation; first
grade will remain on the transcript.

COURSE WITHDRAWAL
Course Withdrawal – see course schedule on the
Records/Registration website for deadline dates!
Process paperwork – don’t stop attending class and
assume the faculty know you withdrew
Withdrawal Form – used when emergency situation (e.g.,
medical) can be documented

ACADEMIC PROBATION
Probation – overall GPA below 3.0
Three enrollment periods on probation, then dismissal
Dismissal appeal possible
Program Dismissal can also occur due to
unprofessional/unethical behavior or mutual
agreement that this is not the program for you.

Max 6 years – master program
Max 3 years – certificate program
Max 6/7 years – specialist degree
Max 7 years – doctoral studies

There is a fee and it will be posted to your student account

Must get tickets prior to the day of the ceremony (six tickets available
for each graduate at no cost)
Must order regalia ahead of time
Timeline depends on whether it is a December or April ceremony
