Learning/teaching activities

• • • • Instructional activity Simulation Workplace activity Reflection

Kolb’s Learning Cycle

Perform part of an interview contributing to risk assessment Active experimentation Concrete experience Watching your trainer perform a risk assessment Guided reading of psychiatric literature Abstract conceptualisation Reflective observation Discussion of observations in supervision Kolb (1984) Experiential learning: experience as the source of learning and development. Prentice Hall

Which type of learner are you?

• • • • Reflector – watch and feel – Watch, think and review Theorist – watch and think – Think a problem through Pragmatist – do and think – Likes to apply new learning Activist – do and feel – Likes to experience new things

Thank you!
