Successful grant application submitted to BP energy for $10,000 to purchase a solar
array and 20 iPods.
Attended BP energy conference in Aug. 2011
After initial estimates on a solar array from Lethbridge Battery found out there would
not be enough money to put up the array.
Using a contact from the conference decided to call Enmax to see if their generate
choice program could be extended from residential applications to the school. They
adapted the program to assist us with a cost effective solution. First mention of
Possible wind turbine for St. Joseph School.
Several extensive efforts between Enmax, MPE Engineering and myself to
determine a viable way to accommodate solar array (Sept-Nov 2011).
Continued talks with gen-e staff at Enmax spurred another conference invite put on
by Enmax (Nov 2011).
Enmax selects St. Joseph School as one of there target schools for a Sky Stream
wind turbine (Nov 2011).
Enmax sends out contractor to evaluate site. Given thumbs up as excellent location
(Nov 2011).
St. Joseph school installs weather station to set the stage for activities that compare
alternative energy output to weather conditions.
Enmax calls Town of Coaldale for permits for both solar array and wind turbine,
neither exist at this point though the town assures me they will be ready by Apr 2012.
Project put on hold.
Enmax sends me an email telling me they are still willing to assist with solar array,
but will not be in a position to offer the wind turbine as there financial picture needs
to be closed by the end of Dec 2011.
Panic call to Town of Coaldale pleading for assistance in order to not lose the wind
turbine project valued at $10,000.00
