Why Should I Plan?
• Examiners have commented that whilst many
students think carefully about their spelling,
grammar and punctuation, many students do
not give enough thought to the development
and structure of their ideas.
• It is essential to write a short plan. What will
go in each section? What is the best order for
this? How will you fully develop each idea?
How Should I plan?
• Identify the form, audience and purpose
• Make brief notes under these headings
• Make brief notes under the heading “subject”
• Decide on an order for your “subject” ideas
Audience – professional,
formal language, sound
knowledgeable, relevant
details only
Purpose – give both sides – realise bad
news sells, people do care about crime,
BUT balance – give E.g.s of positives and
back up with evidence
Write a letter to your local newspaper in which you argue that
the positive things teenagers do deserve reporting too.
Form- direct at reader, formal
language, link to audience,
opinions and examples
Subject
Views of teenagers
• Negative views in the newspaper –
reinforce the stereotype
• Hoodies/thugs/ drinking/violence/antisocial behaviour – should be reported
• Only small minority of teens involved in
these things
• Positive views that should be
in the newspaper –
• Sports’ achievements
• Records / team successes
• Music
• School bands / singing
contests
• Teenagers volunteering for
local community projects

If your looking for a good day out with your
family, then I recomend St Albans. This is a very

Albans is also a good place to go as there are
lots of shops and a populer market on most days
of the week.

Let’s start with the cathedral it is a magnificent
