What does a PM&R physician do?
• Evaluate, diagnose and treat disability
• Direct a rehabilitation plan for an individual
that provides the best possible outcomes,
focuses on functional ability and quality of life
• Commonly treated conditions include:
– amputation, spinal cord injury, sports injury, stroke,
musculoskeletal pain syndromes such as low back pain,
fibromyalgia, traumatic brain injury, cancer, multiple
sclerosis and cardiac disorders, cerebral palsy
