Early World History & Modern World History Social Studies Graduation Requirements 3 credits/years World History-1 credit (9th) US History- 1 credit (10th) Government- .5 credit (11th) Economics-.5 credit (11th) 9TH GRADE SCIENCE REQUIREMENTS Choice #1:PHYSICAL SCIENCE Choice #2:PHYSICAL SCIENCE/BIOLOGY BLOCK Students will have Physical Science 1st semester for 2 hours & Biology 2nd semester for 2 hours. (4 semesters total) Students should consult with science teachers and current counselor to make sure it’s an appropriate placement. Students must have the prerequisite of Algebra 1 or a higher math in 8th grade to be considered. *exception – see middle school counselor Science Graduation Requirements 3 credits/years Physical Science (Intro to Chemistry, Intro to Physics) - 1 credit (9th) Biology - 1 credit (10th) Chemistry or Physics - 1 credit (11th or 12th) TH 9 GRADE MATH REQUIREMENTS If a student is successful in their current math class it is common for them to move on to the next math level. Math teachers will make recommendations. Math Sequence Algebra Geometry Algebra 2 Algebra 2A and Algebra 2B Pre-Calculus AP Calculus or AP Statistics Math Graduation Requirements 4 credits/years Each student must minimally complete coursework through Algebra 2. A math or math related course must be taken in the final year of high school. High school courses taken in middle school may be used to satisfy the MMC requirement and credits, and will be counted towards the 22 total credits needed to graduate. They will not be calculated into the GPA. More Graduation Requirements Visual, Performing, Applied Arts-1 credit (2 semesters) Modern World Language – 2 credits Health & Physical Education- 1 credit – 2 different options Wellness 1 and Wellness 2 OR Physical Activity Course and Health * Middle School credit for gym leads to health class. Modern World Languages Choices: German, Spanish, French, American Sign Language and Chinese Students who are successful in level 1 of a modern world language will be recommended to go on to level 2. *private schools Students should get teacher recommendations/signatures Students must complete 2.0 credits of the same language. Signatures needed for students currently in their first year of a modern world language class and looking to take a second year.
