Until today our cultures are coined by the „BAUHAUS“
or International Style.
Most uf us think until the modern times :
To be engaged in function is enough,
Design is a direct result of functional acting.
Designers can add our product the finishing touch, not
more
But this is wrong nowadays

Today Design is not the logically,
automatically result of engineering,
Design is absolutely separated from
the engineering effort.
And instead: Design is more than in
earlier times an integrated part of the
product.
Engineers have to find a new
approach to the finished product.

We are in the beginning. Only a few programs follow this
goal.
Most of them are integrating one or more design theory or
design practice courses and a more or less integrated
exchange of knowledge and/or persons between the
faculty of design and the faculty of technology.
Most of this programs are Master programs. But we
intend to begin with the design integration in the first year
of the bachelor ( the first design based project)
Our goal is visible in the Master of Multimedia Technology
in the Faculty of Engineering, department Electrical
Engineering

Master of Engineering in
Multimedia Technology
-2-year program with a lot of contacts to Industry
-Compulsary courses in design practice – 15%
-Compulsary courses in special technologies – 15%
-Design based projects with team-teaching of Engineers and
Designers – 40%
-Elective courses in Business, Design or Technology - 30%
- All projects have a design student as supervisor / tutor
- Most projects are Industry Projects
- a lot of the theses deliver a patent or a similar ideaprotection
