On April 30, 2015, the NorCal Metroplex will
implement 5 optimized RNAV STARs:
•
•
•
•
•
EMZOH1 Arrival into KOAK (new)
OAKES1 Arrival into KOAK (new)
RAZRR1 Arrival into KSJC (new)
SUUTR1 Arrival into KSMF (new)
YOSEM3 Arrival into KSFO (amended)
The following pages will introduce these
procedures, talk about what to expect from
ATC and what ATC expects from flight crews

3
EMZOH1 Arrival into KOAK
Replaces the Panoche 3 and Commo 1 STARs
Below is what you will hear from Oakland Center and what it means to you:
<Callsign> Descend Via the EMZOH One Arrival, Rwy 30 Transition, Oakland altimeter
XXXX
Pilots are expected to fly the Rwy 30 transition (via MYRIB for Runways 30 & 28 L/R) as
published and descend via the arrival, complying with altitudes and speeds. General
aviation aircraft can expect Runway 28 assignment from NorCal Approach
Or for Runway 12:
<Callsign> Descend via the EMZOH One Arrival, Rwy 12 Transition, Oakland altimeter
XXXX
Pilots are expected to fly the Rwy 12 transition (via EMAAA for Runway 12) as published
and descend via the arrival, complying with altitudes and speeds.
** As a reminder, ATC needs to hear the readback of the “Descend Via” clearance and altimeter.
** Compliance with the published speeds on a STAR is mandatory and cancels previously assigned
speeds unless explicitly assigned via an “except maintain xxx knots” clearance.

OAKES 1 Arrival into KOAK
Replaces the Madwin 5 and Manteca 2 STARs
Below is what you will hear from Oakland Center and what it means to you:
<Callsign> Descend Via the OAKES One Arrival, Rwy 30 Transition, Oakland altimeter
XXXX
Pilots are expected to fly the Rwy 30 transition (via TOOOL for Runways 30 & 28 L/R) as
published and descend via the arrival, complying with altitudes and speeds. General
aviation aircraft can expect Runway 28 assignment from NorCal Approach
Or for Runway 12
<Callsign> Descend via the OAKES One Arrival, Rwy 12 Transition, Oakland altimeter
XXXX
Pilots are expected to fly the Rwy 12 transition (via SULRR for Runway 12) as published
and descend via the arrival, complying with altitudes and speeds.
** As a reminder, ATC needs to hear the readback of the “Descend Via” clearance and altimeter.
** Compliance with the published speeds on a STAR is mandatory and cancels previously assigned
speeds unless explicitly assigned via an “except maintain xxx knots” clearance.

RAZRR 1 Arrival into KSJC
Replaces El Nido 5 and JAWWS 3 STARs
Below is what you will hear from Oakland Center and what it means to you:
<Callsign> Descend Via the RAZRR One Arrival, Rwy 30 Transition, San Jose altimeter
XXXX
Pilots are expected to fly the Rwy 30 transition (via SCOPR for Runways 30) as published
and descend via the arrival, complying with altitudes and speeds.
Or for Runway 12:
<Callsign> Descend via the RAZRR One Arrival, Rwy 12 Transition, San Jose altimeter
XXXX
Pilots are expected to fly the Rwy 12 transition (via GOTEE for Runway 12) as published
and descend via the arrival, complying with altitudes and speeds
** As a reminder, ATC needs to hear the readback of the “Descend Via” clearance and altimeter.
** Compliance with the published speeds on a STAR is mandatory and cancels previously assigned
speeds unless explicitly assigned via an “except maintain xxx knots” clearance.

9
SUUTR1 Arrival into KSMF
Replaces the WRAPS 5 STAR
Below is what you will hear from Oakland Center and what it means to you:
<Callsign> Descend Via the SUUTR One Arrival, Sacramento altimeter XXXX
Pilots are expected to fly the SUUTR 1 arrival as published and descend via the arrival,
complying with altitudes and speeds. Crews can expect runway assignment from NorCal
Approach
** As a reminder, ATC needs to hear the readback of the “Descend Via” clearance and
altimeter.
** Compliance with the published speeds on a STAR is mandatory and cancels previously
assigned speeds unless explicitly assigned via an “except maintain xxx knots” clearance.

Below is what you will hear from Oakland Center and what it means to you:
<Callsign> Descend Via the YOSEM Three Arrival, San Francisco altimeter XXXX
Pilots are expected to fly the YOSEM 3 Arrival as published and descend via the arrival,
complying with altitudes and speeds. Crews can expect runway assignment from
NorCal Approach
** As a reminder, ATC needs to hear the readback of the “Descend Via” clearance and
altimeter.
** Compliance with the published speeds on a STAR is mandatory and cancels
