MLA Specifications

 Title and Identification  MLA does NOT require a title page. On the first page, place your name, instructor, course/section #, and date on separate lines against the upper left margin.

  On the following line, Center your title  The title should not be bold faced, underlined, in quotes, or italicized.  Format titles of works as required Begin paper on next line.

 This includes works cited page, block quotes, and endnotes  There is NEVER an extra space between paragraphs**  If you WP program does so as a default, you need to select the proper layout  Leave ONE space after a mark of terminal punctuation.

 Always include page numbers and a header  Put the page number preceded by your last name (header) in the upper right corner of each page except the first

  The default MLA font is:   12 Point Font** TIMES NEW ROMAN DO NOT ADJUST FONTS!!!

 Titles of long works (novels, plays, long poems) should be italicized   

 Titles of short works should be in quotation marks but NOT italicized    “A Clean, Well-Lighted Place” “Diamond as Big as the Ritz” “Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock”
