Research: Penn Mine
Microbiology and Geochemistry
Overview: Acid drainage (Cu, Zn, Cd) from the
Penn Mine discharges into Camanche Reservoir
via ground water and surface water runoff.
Remediation efforts have targeted above ground
contamination. This project investigates
subsurface geochemical and microbiological
processes that impact subsurface contaminant
fluxes to the reservoir.
