Who Are These Apprentices?
They are local people
They are between 19 and 55 years
Internal candidates are existing support workers
External candidates are wishing to commence a career in
health care
They all have a desire and commitment to learning and to
delivering high quality patient care
What Do They Do?
The apprentices are employed as support workers
They attend Abingdon and Witney College one day per week
They complete an OCN accredited programme
They study Science, Maths, Study Skills, IT, Social Science
and Reflective Practice
They complete clinical competencies in their workplace

122 apprentices have completed the pre-degree and prediploma programmes
53 apprentices have graduated from Oxford Brookes
University
62 apprentices are currently studying at OBU
The programme plays a key role in recruitment & retention of
support workers
The programme has been able to be responsive to new
initiatives and evolve according to our stakeholders needs
