PowerStream SA Technical Details of Options

PowerStream / Jonathan Smith / 09-2010

HPC PowerStream SA – Options – High Pressure Pump Types Design flexibility of PowerStream SA enables us to offer:

• Various pressure options • Optional flow rates • Varying operating characteristics Selection process will be down to customer preference and application consideration .

PowerStream / Jonathan Smith / 09-2010

HPC PowerStream SA – Options – High Pressure Pump Types Gear Pump Positives:

• Low cost design • Accepted technology in HPC systems

Negatives:

• Only suitable for oil • Requires pressure relief valve • Requires high lubricity to minimise premature wear • Requires high filtration, minimum 15 microns • Wear results in decreasing delivery pressure • Pump cannot be repaired PowerStream / Jonathan Smith / 09-2010

HPC PowerStream SA – Options – High Pressure Pump Types Screw Pump Positives:

• Accepted technology in HPC systems • Suitable for oil and emulsion • Pump can be repaired

Negatives:

• High cost • High power consumption • Requires pressure relief valve • Requires high filtration, minimum 15 microns • Dislikes aeration PowerStream / Jonathan Smith / 09-2010

HPC PowerStream SA – Options – Heat Exchanger Designed to maintain ambient temperature Why do we offer it?

• • • i PowerStream is compact and can generate heat when used with some small machines and pump configurations: Sliding head machines with small tanks < 300 litres High flow rate pumps (up to 45 L/min) High pressure pump run continuous but not used by machine tool ii Thermal rise in coolant temperature PowerStream / Jonathan Smith / 09-2010

HPC PowerStream SA – Options – Heat Exchanger Designed to maintain ambient temperature What does it do?

i Maintains ambient temperature (Note: a chiller maintains set temperature) ii Helps stabilise temperature on machines with small tanks using HPC iii Directly cools coolant returned off pressure relief valve (a high temperature source due to friction across the valve) PowerStream / Jonathan Smith / 09-2010

HPC PowerStream SA – Options – Additional Outlets 8 Ports

• Standard option 4 ports / outlets • Number of ports / outlets required is i machine-driven ii application-driven iii customer-driven • 8 ports maximum PowerStream / Jonathan Smith / 09-2010

HPC PowerStream SA – Additional Set Pressure Option

• We can offer additional pressure relieve valves to the various outputs which means they can be independently controlled from the system pressure. This means for example when port 1 is opened it produces, for example 70 bar but with the addition of a pressure relief valve to port 2 when the machine calls for port 2 it produces a different pressure, for example 40 bar (see below). It is important to note however, it is only possible to have one pressure running at any onetime… it is not possible to run both 70 and 40 at the same time. • When the machine calls for port 1 the output pressure to the machine is 70 bar • When the machine calls for port 2 the output pressure to the machine is 40 bar (although the out pressure of our PowerStream system remains the same) PowerStream / Jonathan Smith / 09-2010
