Education
 Current Emphasis – Develop national consensus standard,
ANSI/ANS-8.26, “Criticality Safety Engineer Training and
Qualification”, Draft now in Working Group (WG) status
 White Papers on the Web – Key topics include NCS Education
Committee Overview, An Acceptable NCS Evaluation, A Standard
CSE, NCS Mentors and Qualifications, Training for non-NCS
Managers, Professional Development Workshops and Tutorials
 Workshops/Tutorials – efforts continue; burnup credit tutorial
planned for Hollywood, FL 2002 meeting
 Technical Session Certificates – NCSD Technical Session
Certificate of Attendance made available to participants (as
demonstration of professional development).
Recent Initiatives
Emerging Issues White Papers
subcommittee to screen issues and develop white
paper; then exec committee controls issuance to
web.
Local Meetings
10% of members attend national meetings
need more benefits for rest
local areas meetings proposed to fill gap
Web page – NEED TO UTILIZE MORE
Noteworthy
 Membership steadily growing
 Attendance at governance meetings high
 Committee and officer positions easily filled
 Student Session with monetary awards every 2 yrs
 Standards Poster Session every 4 years
 Routinely provide student travel funds to ANS meetings
 Awards created for Distinguished Service and Technical
Excellence
 Active Education and Standards Committee
