New Mentor Team
Training to assist struggling clubs
Background
 To prepare a Lion to assist a new or struggling club for
two years
 The Guiding Lion is a mentor to provide advice and
guidance
 In addition to support a training, this individual should
involve the club leadership in zone, district and MD
meetings to build leadership skills and knowledge of Lions
 This course brings Lions up to speed with existing
programs and policies
Course is Divided into Six Sections
1. Skills of a Successful Guiding Lion – Assesses
Leadership Skills.
2. Get off to a Good Start – Leads participants through
programs and materials that support a club.
3. Develop a Club Officer Mentor Team – Builds a
practical/job specific team to support each new
officer.

4. Design Club Officer Training – Provides an outline for
delivering area specific club officer training.
5. Guiding Lion Resources – Reports and data to
measure the health of the developing club.
6. NEW! Club Rebuilding – An assessment that leads to
customized support
May still be taken as a group or by correspondence

Assessment process to identify the training and support
that is needed.
The assessment identifies the strengths and areas in
need of improvement and to help the Guiding Lion tailor
a training program specific to the club.
New for Rebuilding
Assignment Form to formally assign a Lion to the club
and ensure they receive the information they need.
By formally assigning a Guiding Lion to the club, the Lion
will receive the club health assessment each month
along with valuable information regarding the club.

Two policies you should know
1.A Guiding Lion can not assist more than two clubs at
any point in time. If an application is received for a Lion to
serve a third club the district governor will be asked to
assign someone else.
2.To remain certified, the Certified Guiding Lion will be
required to retake the course every three years.
