The Governments Perspective
New Minister for Probation Jeremy Wright 26 Sept 12
I am delighted to be able to see Community Payback in
action ……we want it to be more immediate, more
intensive and more rigorous.
Community Payback must be more intensive and delivered
within days of an offender being sentenced, If the public are
to have confidence in community sentences, it is vital
offenders are seen paying back with hard work in the
very communities they have damaged.'

London Community Payback
Serco has responsibility to deliver Community Payback (CP) services.
London Probation Trust is a sub-contractor to Serco for Community
Payback Case Management and certain IT services.
Serco has responsibility to deliver Placements and the supervision of
Offenders . Part of this is developing a pipeline of good quality
Placements whilst providing a service of a high standard. This will
include working closely with all beneficiaries and stakeholders including
local Authorities, to ensure we maintain existing and developed new
relationships across London . There will be some changes given the
transfer of Service delivery from London Probation Trust to Serco. A
level of support and partnership from all beneficiaries will be required to
ensure future success.
Serco’s delivery model is based around the majority of tools ,equipment
and consumables being provided by the beneficiary . This will allow
Serco to minimise the cost of procuring and maintaining a large stock of
these items ..
