Organizational structure does not matter! Standards • Set of standards developed by the Standards Work Group • Standards were vetted from March-May • Results of vetting were analyzed by NORC • Standards were revised by MCPP and Standards Work Group • New Set Approved by the Board July 16 11 Assessment Process Overview 1. Pre-application Applicant prepares and assesses readiness, informs PHAB of its intent to apply, and receives training 2. Application Applicant submits application form 3. Self-assessment Applicant gathers documentation 4. Site Visit Site visit is conducted and report developed 5. Accreditation Decisions PHAB Board will award accreditation status 6. Appeals Procedure for appeals and complaints 7. Reports and Reaccreditation Department reports progress and reapplies 12 Beta Test Letter of Invitation • 29 health departments (8 state;19 local and 2 tribal) • Any organizational size and configuration • Joint applications will be accepted • Will not test state-based accreditation or multi-state regional – to be tested later 13 Beta Test Letter of Invitation • What Beta Test Sites Must Do: – Select an accreditation coordinator – Attend training session – Complete an online application form – Complete a self assessment – Gather and submit documentation – Host an on-site visit – Gather time and cost information 14 Beta Test Letter of Invitation • Benefit to the site – Opportunity to influence the national process – Priority placement in the queue for accreditation – Expedited accreditation review – Access to funds from RWJF for quality improvement 15 Beta Test Letter of Invitation • Time line – – – – LOI published July 1, 2009 Applications due August 14, 2009 Notification (either way) September 18, 2009 Beta test runs October 15, 2009- December 2010 – QI funding contracts signed in 45 days of award – Final QI materials due December 3, 2010 16 Inputs for Program Planning Beta Test Formal Evaluation Beta Test Applicants Not Selected Think Tank Monographs Centralized States Governance State-based accreditation Environmental health services Laboratory services Large City The PHAB Board will consider three major categories of input as they plan to launch the full accreditation program in 2011.
