Technology
in the
1900’s
The Industrial Revolution
During certain periods in history, innovations
in technology have grown at such a great
rate that Industrial Revolutions were started.
The lead up to the Revolution
 Just like the England, America went from a
largely rural-agricultural country to a big
business urban civilization.
 During this era technology and ingenuity
was at a peak.
 People started thinking of what could be.
And more importantly how to make money.
During the revolution
 As the revolution went on people started
buying more things instead of making your
own.
 Factories popped everywhere
 There was plenty of semiskilled labor to fill
jobs.

process the railroad was
finished.
Fatalities of the railroad
 After the Railroad finally became a reality
there was many mishaps.
 When the first statistics were tallied up more
than 2,000 people were dead.
 Workers worked under very harsh
conditions.
Why the railroad rocked!
 Due to the rapid growth of the railroad many
people moved west.
 Thanks to the railroad people could get to
better job opportunities.
 Many new cities were founded because of the
Transcontinental railroad.
The
Natural Resources
of the
Golden Age
During the Revolution ways were discovered
to use resources better.
What kind of resources
 As peopled moved
west the found large
deposits of:
 Iron
 Coal
 And oil
Uses of the resources
 Bessemer invented a steel process that
made iron into a stronger steel.
 Coal was used to power trains.
 Oil was used to power machines and other
inventions
