Compared to other Sydney universities
• No equivalents at UNSW or USyd
• UTS does straight LLB, which includes
practical legal training requirements, but not
the breadth of studies
• UWS has a straight LLB, but without a
defined major so no distinct pathways beyond
law and so more narrow
15
Entry Requirements for LLB programs
• No prerequisite study at high school
• ATAR for double degree programs are 95-96
• No advertised ATAR for the new 4 year LLB
program, but anticipating 97
16
Pathways – Pre-Law Quota
• Admission to the ‘Pre-Law’ Pathway allows students
in non-law degrees to undertake introductory law
units as a pathway to the Bachelor of Laws.
• Students approved for entry to the pre-law pathway
will have waivers loaded to allow enrolment in
LAW115, LAW104, LAW108, and LAW109.
– Upon satisfactory completion of these four units, students
may then apply to transfer into either the Bachelor of Laws
(96cp Single Award) or a Double Degree with Bachelor of
Laws, subject to meting the transfer requirements set out
below.
17
Pathways – Pre-Law Quota
• New Students (commencing their studies at
Macquarie in 2014) who have been admitted to a
non-law degree at Macquarie University can apply for
admission to the pre-law pathway prior to their first
semester of studies if they meet the following criteria:
– Minimum ATAR to be established each year. For 2014
intake the minimum ATAR will be 93.
• Existing Students already enrolled in a non-law
degree at Macquarie must meet the following criteria
for entry to the Pre-Law Pathway:
