Supporting your SEF: evaluation of SATs preparation

Task 1 Using the Middle Leaders’ Self- Evaluation Guide 1. Read through pages 3 – 5.

2. In pairs, read through pages 6 & 7,and identify which aspects of your roles and responsibilities would be supported by evaluating your SATs preparation.

Some definitions

Monitoring

The

collection of evidence

concerning the quality of the department’s provision of education or of the out comes for the pupils in order to ascertain the extent to which the department is successful in achieving its objectives.

Evaluation

The

assessment

of the value of actions, or of the implementation of a policy. It requires a

set of criteria

against which the evidence collected from the monitoring process can

judged

.

Compare with baseline data / success criteria to make judgements on effectiveness.

Review implementation.

Make recommendations.

Evaluate SATs preparation programme Use judgements / recommendations from evaluation to inform action plan and Identify Success Criteria for both implementation & programme itself.

Review evaluation from previous SATs Preparation Provides further data to measure success & identifies current achievement against expectations.

Pupil Achievement Mock SATs Analysis of mock SATs Identifies strengths & weaknesses Further sampling of papers will identify borderline issues.

SATs .

Who will monitor & what will be monitored would be identified within action plan Revision / intervention programme Monitor implementation Review action plan / success criteria & once revision programme has been updated to address weaknesses etc roll out programme.
