GATE: Vision & Mission
• Vision: prepare and enable students, in
relatively under-developed areas of India, to be
able to compete in the new global arena: both
at the national and international level
• Mission: to empower students in relatively
under-developed regions of the country with
modern education, technology, English speaking
skills and necessary training required to succeed
in today’s global economy
GATE: Objectives
• To open non-profit, international standard schools
named “Global Ambitions” in relatively under developed
areas of India
• To motivate students for learning science and math
• To empower students with English speaking skills
• To provide free education to under-privileged children of
India
• To bring volunteer teachers and workers from developed
countries to help achieve the vision
• To undertake any and all activities, including promoting
volunteerism and fund raising, in achieving GATE’s stated
vision and mission

GATE: Registration & By-Laws
• The trust is to be registered as a not-for-profit charitable
NGO by the name of GATE (Global Ambitions Trust for
Education)
• The registered office of the trust shall be Priya Kunj, Saket
Nagar, Kharajarwa Marg, Deoria-274001, U.P., India
• The trust will exist for the vision, mission, and objectives
described here
• All trust activities must be in accordance with the “law of
the land” and must take place for the benefit of the public
at large without any discrimination on any basis
• Decision making body will be GATE’s Board of Directors
(hereby known as “The Board”). There will be a minimum
of 3 and a maximum of 6 Directors, at any given time
GATE: Registration & By-Laws
• The Board will meet at least once every 6 months.
• Three Directors will form a quorum for a meeting of The
Board. A two third vote of the Board members that must
include the Chairman’s vote, will be necessary to pass and
implement any decisions
• The Board or the Chairman will have the right to appoint
future Directors
• The Board must adhere to the vision, mission & objectives
of GATE in any and all decision making
• All the Directors shall be responsible for promoting the
vision of the trust and raising funds
GATE: By-Laws
• The Chairman and CEO positions are lifelong (unless the
bearer resigns or becomes medically incapable). The Vice
Chairman will succeed the Chairman
• A person shall cease to be a Director in either of the
following situations:
– If he/she, without informing leave of absence, does not attend any
meetings of the Board or contribute to the cause of the trust in any
way, sort or form for two consecutive years, or
– If he/she is requested to resign by the Chairman
• Every Director will be at liberty to resign at any time
• All teachers & employee appointments must be based on
merit, without any favors to anyone, and must be
approved by the CEO and the Chairman
GATE: By-Laws
• It is imperative that none of the Directors (including the
Chairman and CEO) derive any income, perks and/or
personally benefit in any way from school operations
• However, a Director but not the Chairman may be
reimbursed for travel expenses related to attending Board
meetings or travel to raise funds for the trust
• In keeping with the strictest sense of a “non-profit
organization” any surplus funds generated by the school
must be invested in the expansion and betterment of the
school
GATE: CEO Responsibilities
• The CEO will be responsible for implementing Board’s
decisions and for signing and executing all documents on
behalf of the trust
• The CEO will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of
the trust
• The CEO will be responsible for overseeing trust accounts
and will have the authority to deposit, withdraw and
disburse funds on behalf of the trust
• All school principals/headmasters will report to the CEO
(unless later changed by the Board). With further
expansion and success in future the CEO will be supported
by a management team
GATE: Accounts & Audit
• A separate bank account will be opened in the name of
GATE with a charitable donation from the Chairman
• A strict log of all credits and debits will be maintained.
An expense account log will be maintained with receipts
• A proper account of the trust shall be kept at the office
of the trust
• Annual audit will be conducted by an external auditor
who will certify to the non-profit principles and
adherence to by-laws.

• Non-obligatory (non-interference) government
funding
GATE: Funding
• Initial funding for renting school premises, recruiting
teachers, advertising, equipping class rooms (with
furniture, generator, computers, library etc), salary for
teachers, and support staff will be provided by GATE’s
Chairman
• To start-with students will be charged a fee of Rs. 500
each per month to cover some of the expenses. This
may be changed by the Board
• It is expected that Global Ambitions will enroll over 100
children and will be able to generate monthly operating
expenses from July 2007 onwards
• The Chairman and Directors will make every effort to
raise funds from various sources
GATE: Future Plan & Expansion
• A minimum of 10% of the class seats will be reserved for
children from under-privileged strata of the society and
no tuition fee will be charged to these students.
• Provision for free education to under-privileged children
will increase as the school becomes self-sustainable
• If successful, the plan is for Global Ambitions to build its
own premises either on a purchased land in Deoria (U.P.)
or in Lar (a small town in Deoria, U.P.) by 2010
• Long-term success plan is to open Global Ambitions
across various small district headquarters in underdeveloped states of the country

– Plans to affiliate and gain recognition from CBSE and also offer
IB (International Baccalaureate) program
– Plans to coach and prepare senior secondary students for IIT
and Medical college entrance tests
– Plans to offer SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) coaching, necessary
for most college admissions in the US
Focused Global Approach
• Language: A Truly English Medium School
– Medium of instruction - English only
• Must hire only English speaking trained teachers
and provide them with high standard facilities
– Medium of interaction with each other on
school grounds will be strictly English (no
exceptions allowed).
– Focus on training children to be well versed in
speaking English (conversational) by the time
they get to middle school

– One computer in each class
– A separate computer with Internet in the
Library
– Must become well versed in computer use and
applications by 8th grade

– Follow CBSE and international curriculum
– Must include emphasis on morals and ethics and importance of
giving back to society through a daily dedicated class on this
subject
