Vocational Career Training – Over 36 programs in 6 major clusters • Business Information Systems • Engineering Technology • Arts and Humanity • Heath Services • Human and Public Services • Natural and Agricultural Sciences Other Programs Offered… • New Visions Career Explorations • General Education Courses • GED Career Technical Education (CTE) • Numerous CTI courses are certified by New York State Regents for CTE endorsement – Every student who completes a one or two year program receives a CTE Regents Endorsement on their graduation diploma • Work Based Learning Experience – Every course that is Regents certified for a CTE endorsement must have a work based learning experience WBL and Career and Technical Education Endorsement CTE Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation – CTE Endorsement 4.5 Units of Credit which includes.. Cooperative Occupational Education Work Experience (Co-op). Career Exploration Internship Program (CEIP). Cooperative Apprenticeship Program (CAP). WBL and CTE Endorsement provides added credential on their Regents Diplomas Endorsement: •Core courses •Skill Training •National Assessment •WBL •WBL VALIDATES the endorsement with local/regional support. •Student has additional credentials to market NYS Approved WBL Programs • General Education Work Experience • Work Experience & Career Exploration • Community-Based Vocational Education Program • Career Exploration Internship • Co-Operative Work Experience • Cooperative Apprenticeship What we offer … • Job Shadowing • paid and non-paid internships, cooperative study work based internships • Career Exploration Internship Programs (CEIP) can provide job experience and career exploration How it works… • There are two sessions per school year for WBL – Oct thru Jan / Feb thru May – You will be able to go to a work site during school time – You must provide your own transportation – You will be trained on important entry level skills while completing your WBL program Why Work Based Learning (WBL) • You should be asking yourself –What is the purpose of WBL –What are these programs –How do I benefit from this PURPOSES OF WORK-BASED LEARNING • Obtain workplace skills. • Obtain knowledge of work world. • Interact with people of all ages and backgrounds. • Explore career paths. Related class(s). Hours 150 600 Paid Credits .5 - 2 Towards Sequence GEWEP 16+ At least one period per week of related class. 150 – 600 Paid .5 – 2 local credit. 150 300 Paid Local credit. WECEP 14 – 15 yrs. Paid work experience for at risk students. All programs must be registered with the NYS Education Department Program CEIP Career Exploration Internship Program 14+ Description Students explore career opportunities. Hands on exploration rather than skill development. Hours Credits 75 – .25 – 1 300 CTE hours sequence. Cooperative Apprenticeship Program CAP 16+ years old 150 – 600 hours. Paid .5 – 2 units credit (CTE sequence) •Dept. of Labor + School Program •Formal agreement with DOL and employer for progression. •Training relates to career goals. •Related skill training classes. Who Coordinates the WBL Programs? • A NYSED approved program should be operated by a Certified Work Based Learning Coordinator. Put what you’ve learned into practice... • You’ve learned all the theory... now put it into practice through our work based learning programs available at CTI • Learn if you want to be in a certain career path now while you are in high school, this can translate into $ dollars savings for college WE WANT YOU TO GO TO COLLEGE!
