CPDC: A Committee here

CPDC: What is it?
• Curriculum & Professional Development
Council
• Definition/Purpose: A representative group of
local certified personnel which advises the
local board of education in matters
concerning the planning, development,
implementation and operation of the Inservice Education Plan. (from our local bylaws)
CPDC: What does it do?
• Major Functions:
– Make recommendations about Professional
Development Points requested
– Submit the approved points to SWPRSC for
addition to the IPD transcript
– Identify in-service needs based on validated datadriven student and staff data for inclusion in the
School Improvement Plans
– Report and evaluate staff development activities
that they have undertaken locally to progress
toward their selected APA goals.

CPDC: Why does it matter
to you?
• We help make sure you receive your points for indistrict & out-of-district professional development
activities
– (So you can keep current on your teaching license)
• We plan in-services that will help you develop as
a teacher
– (If there’s something you need help with or want to
know more about, let us know)
• We help make decisions in regards to district
curriculum
– (Come to us with ideas about new classes, books, etc.)
CDPC Goals for 2008-2009
• Record and submit points in a timely
fashion (see points due sheet)
• Plan in-services that benefit ALL staff
• Increase communication between staff
and committee
Out-of-District Professional
Development
• If you would like to attend a conference,
workshop, seminar out-of-district to further
your professional goals:
– Be sure the activity can be directly connected to
your professional goals listed on your Individual
Development Plan
• (will be reviewed on Sept. 26 with Carol Panzor)
– Complete the Request for Out-of-District
Professional Development form and submit to
your principal
• (Online; The DO will take care of all the details, including
registering you, hotel, transportation, etc.)

-- Attend the conference and soak up as much
information as possible
• (Be sure to save any materials, including schedules and
handouts so you can share the great info when you get
back)
– Complete the Request for Professional
Development Points form and submit to Jennifer
Hanni by the due dates (Any points requested
from last April until now need to be turned in by
Sept. 2)
• Can use electronic (on school website) or hard copy (will
have a copy in each office)
Out-of-District Professional
Development (cont.)
• Once you’ve submitted your Request for
Points form to Jennifer Hanni, CPDC will
approve your points and send it on to
SWPSC to be added to your transcript

Fall semester points due by Dec. 1
Spring semester points due by May 1
You can submit forms at any time prior to these
dates, but be sure to follow the deadlines. Email
reminders will be sent throughout the semester.
