It is located in the U.P. in Sault St.MARIE on
the St. Mary’s river

from one lake to the next

had to have the boats
portaged previous to
the locks

ship their goods

. It means carrying boats
and their loads over

waterways

1855

. In winter their tools were
covered in snow
. Many died from the
Cholera Epidemic
