relationship with a Fortune 100 commercialization partner.
The company has grown from zero full-time staff at the time of grant application, to 7
full-time employees today. Our plans are to grow to 12 full-time employees by the end

Submit Comments about EDA’s Proposed Regulations Now
The U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) has incorporated public and
internal input received earlier this year into a set of proposed revised regulations
designated to streamline and clarify requirements, provide additional flexibilities to the
agency's stakeholders, and support current best practices, while protecting taxpayer
dollars.
For your convenience, please see the proposed regulations in track change/and
or clean version
Stakeholders have until Monday, February 6, 2012 to provide comments. We encourage
you to share your thoughts and ideas about EDA’s regulations. For more information
about EDA visitwww.EDA.gov
Some provisions of the new SBIR legislation are:
SBIR and STTR reauthorized for six years
3% of funds for administering SBIR but not STTR
SBIR allocation increased from 2.5 percent to 3.2 percent over several years
STTR allocation increased from .3 percent to .45 percent over six years
Large VC participation increased to 25 percent for NIH, DOE, and NSF, and 15 percent
for other agencies
Shortening the amount of time between decision and release of funds, with flexibility for
the NIH
The bill provides discretion for three agencies (DoD, NIH, and DoEd) to skip Phase I if
the business can demonstrate it has done the equivalent work of Phase II.
