http://articulation.sbcc.edu/IGETC/IGETC.pdf
CSU Breadth
http://articulation.sbcc.edu/CSU/CSUGE.pdf
Private California, and out-of-state schools have
a GE pattern unique to that school.
However, some also accept IGETC.
The Importance of Major Preparation
 Prepares students for upper-division work
 Highly selective majors (e.g. sciences, engineering) evaluate students based on
major preparation completed prior to transfer
 Prerequisite coursework is often a higher priority than GE or IGETC.
(Some courses may count as both Preparation and General Education).
 Major preparation and GE/IGETC requirements for each UC campus can be found
on ASSIST - http://www.assist.org/
What is a TAG?*
 A TAG is a formal, written agreement that outlines the
courses that must be completed before transferring**
 It also states the grade point average that needs to be
earned, and lists specific requirements for selective majors
TAG information is available at www.sbcc.edu/transfercenter
*Conditions may change at anytime. Please visit the University’s website for up to date
information.
Students must apply for a UC TAG by Sept 30 one year in advance. They must then apply to the
UC campuses by November 30 one year in advance.
