• In 9th grade, students will…
– Begin their high school career as a freshman
– Earn required credits for high school graduation
– Begin their high school Grade Point Average (GPA)
– Have the opportunity to earn weighted grades
– Begin their high school transcript
– Self-select English and Social Studies courses

HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT REQUIREMENTS
• To graduate, each student
must earn a minimum of 43
credits
• Each class = 1 credit
– Semester 1 = 6 credits
– Semester 2 = 6 credits
– TOTAL = 12 credits per year
• 12 credits x 4 years = 48
credit opportunities

• Global Studies
• Advanced Placement (AP) Human Geography
– Students who are successful in AP Human Geography:
• Have a high level of academic curiosity and motivation
• Want to pursue knowledge further and deeper
• Are able to maintain a high level of organization with time, class materials, and
assignments
• Have a mature, focused work ethic and are able to maximize learning time in and
out of the classroom
• Have strong reading, notetaking and writing skills and are able to read a college
level text, create summarizing notes and express themselves clearly in writing

– Counselor visits in Science classes to complete registration
in Skyward and to enter “My 6-Year-Plan” in Naviance

– High GPA & Class Rank
• 3.0 (B average) = top 50% of graduating class
– High score on College Entrance Exam

• Appropriate amount of rigor for student skill set
• Goal is to earn A grades and B grades

• 2+ consecutive years of a single World Language
