Tonight’s Purpose:
◻ Review registration process
◻ Share information that will help you and your student
select classes for next year
◻ Meet some key staff members who will help with the
transition to middle school
◻ Provide an opportunity for you to ask questions
◻ Most importantly...to ease any anxiety about sending
your child to middle school

March:
◻ Mr. C has visited all 5th grade teachers from HC, GW and
SL
◻ Registration materials delivered to 5th grade teachers
◻ During conferences next week, 5th grade teachers will
walk families through completing registration form
◻ Registration forms collected at conference and no later
than April 13

◻ Students receiving services in Resource Room,
Structured Learning Center or Life Skills will
have schedule built according to IEP Team
recommendations
◻ On the registration form your child brings home,
mark the 6th Grade Language Arts and 6th Grade
Math boxes, and the case managers will place your
child according to his/her IEP goal areas. IEP case
managers will meet with each elementary school
resource team to discuss student placement.
Are Challenge Courses Right for you?
It may be a consideration if you:
➢ Demonstrate the ability and willingness to
work at an accelerated pace
➢ Persevere - You must commit for the entire
year
➢ Perform above grade level
➢ Demonstrate strong organizational skills,
complete assignments, and turn them in on
time
➢ Take responsibility for your own learning and
ask for help/clarification when needed
