19 November 1974—Washington Temple dedicated.
25 May 1975—New York New York Stake Center
and Visitors’ Center dedicated.
3 October 1993—Temple announced for Hartford,
Connecticut.
30 September 1995—Two new temples announced
for Boston, Massachusetts and White Plains,
New York to replace temple in Hartford.

“Harrison New York Temple”.
1 October 2000—Boston Temple dedicated as the
Church’s 100th temple.

Manhattan Temple District Goals
 Invite
all non-members residing within
temple district to attend the Open House.
 Under the direction of the Temple
Department and the Area Presidency,
plan and coordinate all matters for the
Open House and Dedication.

number of authorized and
trained Boston Temple ordinance
workers.
 Prepare names for temple ordinances for
entire “other” New York New York
Stake—approximately 4,000 names.

Ward & Branch Goals





Encourage every endowed member to obtain and
keep current a temple recommend.
Prepare all new converts to attend the temple, either
for their own endowment or for baptisms for the
dead.
Hold regular Temple Preparation classes to prepare
new converts, reactivated members, and others
working to become worthy to attend the temple.
Encourage regular temple attendance through
frequent temple trips.
Call active Family History Consultants.

with all endowed brethren and
sisters without current temple
recommends to prepare now to attend the
Open House and Dedication.
 Focus lessons and activities on the
temple, the Open House, and Dedication.

Prayerfully consider and invite at least 5
friends/neighbors to attend the Open House.
 Hold regular Family Home Evenings, with
lessons on the temple.
 Volunteer to assist in temple-related activities.
 Teach children the importance of the temple,
including the requirements to enter by
recommend, proper attire, etc.


Suggested Individual Goals




Begin preparing now to attend the Open House and
also, if over 8 years old by Spring 2004, the
Dedication, by:
• becoming and remaining worthy of a TR;
• studying the doctrines of the temple, including the
Plan of Salvation.
Obtain personal set of temple clothing.
Identify ancestors for temple ordinances.
Record in journal impressions about the temple;
create something personal to remember and share.
