of high cost.
(Sometimes expensive schools can afford
to give you more aid).

College Entrance Exams
What are the SAT and ACT exams?
These exams are used by colleges and
universities nationwide to assess an
applicant’s aptitude for college-level work.
Even if you are not planning to apply to
college, or to a college that does not require
these exams; it would be a good idea to have
them in your records for the future.

SAT Subject Tests
• Subject Tests are designed to measure your
knowledge and skills in particular subject
areas, as well as your ability to apply that
knowledge.
• Required by CERTAIN colleges/universities for
CERTAIN majors.
• Offered on the SAME DAY as the SAT
• You may register to take up to (3) SAT Subject
Tests on the same test date.

soon as possible before
registering for the test
FEE WAIVERS
Limited amount of fee waivers for SAT and ACT
as well as for college application are available
for students who participate in the free or
reduced lunch program
IMPORTANT: Fee waivers distributed Tuesdays
and Thursdays during lunch or after school at
the CAP office in 1107. Cambridge students
please see your counselor for fee waivers.
Deadline to request waivers is two weeks prior
to the registration deadline.

Miami Dade Placement Test
• At Miami Dade College – and other 2-year schools you are exempt from the PERT if you score:
SAT - 440 Verbal
500 Math
ACT17- English
18- Reading
21- Math
IMPORTANT: Please visit www.mdc.edu periodically for
updates and changes.
• If you don’t obtain the minimum scores on the SAT,
ACT or CPT, then you will be placed in remedial classes.
• Honors College will use the Writing score on the SAT
and or ACT for admission.

3 years of social studies
2 to 4 years of the same foreign language (American
Sign Language may not be accepted by some out of
state schools and private institutions)

math, natural sciences and/or social studies)
IMPORTANT: Meeting “minimum” admission requirements does not
guarantee admission. Admission to the university is selective and
admission to a particular college, degree program or major, or term may
be limited.

(FFAA)
• One application used for all State Programs (including
Bright Futures)

• Florida Student Assistant Grant (FSAG) is a need-based
program for degree seeking Florida undergraduate
students attending public institutions
• First Generation matching Grant Program is available to
all eligible students
• Florida Resident Access Grant (FRAG) is a program for
degree seeking Florida undergraduate students attending
private institutions
• Deadlines vary. Some colleges/programs set earlier

CSS/Financial Profile
