Process Flow- Bran Purchase Management
Rice Bran Purchase Management
Based on the rice bran extraction unit’s
requirement or demand from traders,
purchase manager engenders contract with
rice millers or brokers for supplying bran
Once the contract is signed, purchase
manager hires the vehicle to collect the bran
and sends it for collection
Vehicle will collect the bran from different
rice mills or brokers. Once the vehicle
returns, gate keeper issues the gate pass
inward (unloading advice) to vehicle
Vehicle will firstly go to weighbridge to
check the gross weight (vehicle weight +
bran weight). Secondly, to unload the bran
and finally to check the tare weight (only
vehicle weight)
Purchase manager, records rice miller-wise
inwards and generates the party-wise GRN
(Goods Receipt Note)
Once the goods reach the godown, lot -wise
lab code will be generated and bran will be
sent to lab for sample testing
Lab finalises the possible oil quantity that
can be extracted from bran and FFA (Free
Fatty Acids)content. On the bases of final
results and as per the contract, final
settlement will be done

Purchase contract
Rice bran extraction unit procures various category of rice bran from different
areas and from various brokers. These purchases are based on contracts
between the rice bran unit and rice millers or brokers. Generally in the
contracts rice millers or brokers describes the quantity of oil that can be
extracted from bran. The major challenges are to record the bran inwards from
suppliers, generate lab sample codes for sample testing, test the bran samples
and to finalize the purchase.
Lot management
At the bran extraction unit (godown), each lot is allocated to different parties.
The unit will have to generate sample codes against each party for testing the
bran. Managing lot and generating the sample codes are very important for the
industry.
Final settlement &
Settlement revision
The final purchase settlement will happen after the sample test of bran is done.
During the sample test, lab will be able to identify how much quantity of oil
can be extracted from bran. The lab result will be compared with rice millers
statement in the contract. Difference if any is calculated and final settlement is
made accordingly. If the rice miller is not happy with the lab result, he can opt
for revise settlement.

will generate lot wise lab codes and collects
samples for testing the oil quantity & FFA

Oil and DORB Sales Management
Based on the purchase orders (sales order
for rice bran extraction unit) received from
dealers, sales manager checks the
availability of stock and confirms the
delivery date
On the confirmed date, dealers or traders
send the vehicle to collect the oil or DORB
Once the vehicle reaches the extraction unit,
gate keeper firstly issue the gate pass
inward (loading advice) and then sends the
vehicle to weighbridge to check tare weight
Supervisor loads the oil and DORB based on
the PO and after loading the items vehicles
are sent to weighbridge to check the gross
weight
Gate keeper collects the loading advice from
the vehicle and allow the vehicle to move
out
Final bill is generated and sent to dealers
and payments are collected and recorded in
the books

loading slip from the gate keeper to load the items. Gate keeper should have the

The sales orders received from retailers or traders is known as SAUDA. The
effective way of managing the sales orders are very important for the rice bran
extraction unit. At any point of time, unit should be able to check available oil or
DORB in stock to manage the orders effectively. This should also contain the details
of brokers or middlemen details if any, so that unit can provide appropriate
commission.
