Take the 2” X 3 ½” rectangle of various decorative stitches on your machine by stitching a full line from top to bottom. Pay attention to thread tension and stitch direction. Also, try to stitch in straight lines. If you need to, pre-mark your fabric with an erasable marking pen. After finished, set aside. fabric and press in half the long ways, with right sides out. (3rd and 4th Pieces of Square Fabric-Right Side Down) 6. Fold rectangle in half and baste short, raw edges together to make a loop. Clip threads. 4. After pressing in half, press edges in, toward the center and fold in half again along the original fold line. 5. Stitch a straight line 1/4” from each long edge of the rectangle, to enclose raw edges. 7. Return to hot-pad. Place stitched side on the table, right side up. Take the 3rd and 4th pieces of square fabric and place them right side down on top of the hot-pad. 8. Place loop inside, raw edges out, between the two pieces of the hot-pad. Make sure that the loop end is placed INSIDE. You should not be able to see the loop at this point. Pin around all edges of the hot-pad, making sure to pin the loop as well. Beginning in the middle of one of the sides, backstitch and sew around the hot-pad at a ½” seam allowance. Make sure to backstitch at the corners. (Do not pivot.) 9. Clip all threads and clip corners for easier turning. At this point, also grade out any excess batting to get rid of extra bulk. 10. Turn your hot-pad right side out and push out the corners. Slipstitch (hand sew) the opening shut. Clip all threads and press if necessary. 11. You are finished! Great Job!!
