What We did for the Hot Can  For the hot can we covered the can with layered paper towels and set it up as close to the celling as we could near a light. This setup uses convection, conduction, and radiation.

What we did for the Cold can  For the cold can we put it on the ground and put a layer of cold paper towels over the cold can which we changed twice before deciding not to do it anymore because it was actually making it warmer. This setup uses convection and conduction.

What we could have done Different  To improve our experiment we could have put the cold can outside and for the hot can we could have wrapped the can with tin foil instead of paper towel because the paper towel got wet and cooled the can

Hot, Cold, and Controlled  The hot can lost a total of 9.8 degrees C.

The cold can only lost 8.8 degrees C.

Comparing them to the controlled can which dropped 5.3 degrees C, our hot can lost 3.5 degrees C more and our cold can lost 4.5 degrees C more. This shows that our experiment failed for both the hot and cold cans.

Real life Example  Just like for the hot can, in a house the basement is usually cooler than the attic due to convection.

 As with the cold can if you were wearing a wet jacket it will cause you to become colder.
