 We all know it: Singing is a brilliant strategy to support the
learning of language. (repetition, rhythm, memorising, etc).
Children have fun and are engaged.
 The Science says so: Singing involves both music and
language Quote Professor Welch
 The Framework for Languages says so: songs and rhymes are
important strategies for learning (Oracy, Literacy, IU).
 Headteachers say so: Quote Cherry Diemonze
And this is our prime aim with MFL: develop good language
learning skills
Sing Up! How it can help
 What is it? Workforce of committed Singing champions
inside and outside the classroom. Their campaign is to raise
awareness of the value of singing.
 What resources do they offer?
termly magazine, website [ www.singup.org ] and
workshops
Sing Up can provide trainers and help teachers prepare
for a singing festival or answer specific needs.
Training: some science, tips on warm ups, changing
perception that we can’t sing, and repertoire.

 A Songbank of over 300 songs [lyrics, recordings and activity

Chut, c’est un secret!
Ecoutez et devinez...
To round things up: a team effort
Dans sa maison un grand cerf
Regardait par la fenêtre
Un lapin venir à lui,
Et frapper à l’huis /ainsi.
- Cerf! Cerf! Ouvre-moi
Ou le chasseur me tuera!
- Lapin, lapin, entre et viens
Me serrer la main.
