Restructure of
Training Packages
Background to change
•
2009 – NQC and COAG released report ‘Training Packages for the 21st Century’
which included recommendations related to improving training packages
•
December 2010 – NQC (replaced by NSSC) endorsed model for ‘streamlining’
units of competency. Aim was to shorten, simplify and segment training packages
•
At that time all training packages were to be changed to the new model by June
2012 so ‘streamlining’ began according to draft model
•
2011 – Development of Standards for Training Packages to replace Training
Package Development Handbook which were endorsed in November 2012
•
1 January 2014 – No more training packages endorsed in traditional format
•
1 January 2015 – Qualifications must align with AQF
•
31 December 2015 – All training packages must comply with NSSC Standards
for Training Packages
