About myself:
• Name
:
William Leijenaar
• Callsign
:
PE1RAH (The Netherlands)
• Occupation :
RF Development Engineer
NXP Semiconductors The Netherlands
(CATV Hybride module designer)
• HAM interrest:
Designing linear transponders for AMSAT
community.
• Membership :
Member of AMSAT-NA
William Leijenaar, PE1RAH
About Linear Transponders:
For user:
• Many users at same time
• Many modes (CW, SSB, FM, RTTY, SSTV……..)
– Different mode at the same time
For Satellite:
• Difficult to design (need great RF experience)
– Must be linear under every condition
•
More expensive to make
– Need special components (Crystal filters)
– Need many stages  Need many components

My ham activities:
• Indian VO-52: Dutch transponder design
Launched May 2005
Operational in orbit
William Leijenaar, PE1RAH
My ham activities:
• AMSAT-DL: P3e Mode-UV transponder design
(100% tested and working, not selected  SDR option)
William Leijenaar, PE1RAH
My ham activities:
• LE002-R1
– VO-52 size Mode-UV Linear Transponder
- Difficult to make  many tuning
- Stability problems
- Not many launch options
 Only for bigger satellites
** Project has been stopped **
