I have 2 favorite lesson plans;
1- “If I were the heart of …….in ROME &
ISTANBUL”
2- WebQuest – Designing an anti-smoking
advertisement.
(Age level of learners: Grade9 - 15-16)
How I found out about the idea;
why I like it; it links up with…
I read articles, one of them was about empathy..
I have traveler students
I had the chance of putting some of my
theoretical knowledge into practice (web quest)
Challenge of students (it was very difficult for
them to link intercultural issues with life science)
Use of MI theory

Q: What was different about the last (pilot) topic? Did you
like it? Why? Why not? How could it be better?
Ss:
-Unordinary and challenging. To connect European cultures
with respiratory system and sing a song about
circulatory system were a good experience for us to get
into the topic
-While designing a poster I didn’t learn anything better but
dissection of the heart helped me more. Poster design
need creativity and some people are not creative like
me!!
These projects were so good to learn the
topic comprehensibly. I actually have
learned lots of things. I like making music
for biology and searching the intercultural
things were interesting and good.
It could have been better if the dates
were a bit more far away from the exam
week but it was very good overall.
The goals achieved by pilot

Different teaching methods were used
(examples that emphasizes MI theory,
webquest..)
Technology is used
Interdisciplinary studies were made
Students were challenged to develop their own
ideas and made links with subject area
Ss studied both inside and outside of the
classroom
From now on I’m planning to;
develop and widen my ideas with new trials
(concept mapping, online interactive labs….etc)
More authenticity, more technology in the
lessons
Learn more about writing rubrics
Emphasize understanding of our own and other
cultures to internalize facts (which brings
interdisciplinary approach to my class)
