History of the MLPB
• Modernising Learning Strategy approved by TMB in
February 2006;
• TMB take corporate ownership of the MPS MLE;
• Routine management by new co-ordination unit (MLU)
under the responsibility of the Director of Training and
Development.

• Modernising Learning Programme Board established to
draft a strategic approach to capitalising on the potential
and to consider the detailed implications for
implementation.
• MLPB to act as the forum through which issues could be
considered and potential solutions proposed before being
brought to TMB for agreement.

MLPB Terms of Reference
Purpose
To develop and implement a ‘Modernising Learning
Strategy’ that supports the MPS Training Strategy and
encourages the development of a more blended learning
style that will maximise the development of technology
to the benefit of the MPS.
Frequency
Meetings to take place at six weekly intervals with
alternate meetings planned to coincide with Training
Management Board meetings.
