The Social Programme
•The Social Programme consists Leisure Time
Activities in the Olympic Village in Hervanta and
its surroundings
•The activities are available for the young
athletes from Monday 20th till Friday 24th
•The Leisure Time Activities can be divided into:
1 Self-acting Leisure Time Activities
2 Structured Leisure Time Activities
The Aspects of Leisure
Time Activities
• Activities that athletes can do on their own
initiative are located mainly in the area of
Hervanta. These activities include different
facilities and places in Hervanta area
• Each athlete will receive a booklet about
Leisure Time Activities available during the
Games. The booklet contains information about
the activities in the Hervanta area and also in
the Olympic Village

Leisure Time Activities
• The Structured Leisure Time Activities in the
OLV are divided into 4 main areas :
1 Quick & Handy
2 Make Some Noise!
3 Boost Up!
4 Music Box

Activities
•The structured activities in the OLV are
available for the athletes during afternoons and
evenings
Afternoon programmes - from 2 pm till 7 pm
•Quick & Handy
•Make Some Noise!
Evening programmes – from 7pm till 10.30pm
• Boost Up!
• Music Box
The Contents of Afternoon
and Evening Programmes
• Both afternoon and evening programmes are
built on the general values of the Games. These
values are sportiness, economic efficiency and
environmental friendliness
• The programmes are done in co-operation with
local partners and youth agents

• The afternoon and evening programmes are
planned in a way that young athletes can
participate whenever it fits to their competition
schedule
• In both programmes the competition schedules,
opening and closing ceremonies have been taken
into consideration
• The language in all activities, materials,
guideposts etc. is English

•Both afternoon and evening programmes are
carried out by local youth work professionals in
co-operation with local sports and youth
organizations
•There are also EYOF 2009 volunteers, first-aid
duty officers and security working in the Leisure
Time Activities areas in the OLV
