Background (1)
• Before: all pre- and post-experience degrees = > “MBA”
• Now: clearer distinction
– MBA: only open for managers with career history
– MiM/MiB: mainly aimed at recent graduates with
non-business background
• MiM/MiB “tradition” started in Europe, but now global
phenomenon with own ranking (FT, 2010)

pag. 6
Background (2)
• Main objective of the MiM/MiB: give business knowhow
to (recent) graduates from a variety of backgrounds, but with
no prior education in business
• But: also open for people with experience
• Stronger focus on obtaining analytical skills (<-> MBA: more
focus on strategic skills)
• Clearer value proposition from a recruiter’s point of view

Student representation
•
Officially:
– One official representative needed in the Education
Board
– Meets 2/3 times a year to discuss strategic issues and
perform formal evaluation of the program
•
Practically:
– Group of ca. 5 students who have regular meetings with
the program director and who function as a sounding
board
– Official representative to be chosen out of the group
•
Please send an e-mail to the program director asap so we can
start working!

pag. 17
Ombudsperson
• In case of formal, individual complaints
• Instant, independent investigation by the ombudsperson;
confidential treatment – trusted person
• Important remark: if you file a complaint to the
Ombudsperson, please wait for the instant, independent
investigation and avoid communication to fellow students as
this might complicate the process to come to a good solution.
