Admission Requirements
• Complete the College Prep Curriculum (CPC) with a
minimum 3.2 high school grade point average (GPA) on
the CPC; OR
• Complete the CPC with a minimum 2.5 high school GPA
or a class rank in the top 50 percent and a score of 16 or
higher on the ACT* (Composite); OR
• Complete the CPC with a minimum 2.0 high school GPA
on the CPC and a score of 18 or higher on the ACT*
(Composite); OR
• Satisfy the NCAA standards for student-athletes who are
“full-qualifiers” under Division I guidelines.
*In lieu of the ACT scores, students may submit equivalent SAT
scores.

IHL Summer
Developmental
Program
• A nine-week intensive program that
concentrates on high school subject areas
(English, Reading, and Mathematics) that
are applicable to success in first-year
college courses.
IHL Summer Developmental
Program (SDP)
• Students who do not meet the criteria for regular
admission are nonetheless eligible for admission.
• Such students must participate, however, in an oncampus placement process at the university of their
choice.
• The process will determine whether the student may be
enrolled in regular freshman-level courses in the Fall
semester or required to enroll in the summer semester
with mandatory participation in the Summer
Developmental Program.
• Successful completion of the Summer Developmental
Program entitles the student to continued enrollment in
the Fall semester at the university of his or her choice.
IHL Summer Developmental
Program Grant (SDPG)
• Must be a legal resident of the State of Mississippi
• Must be under the age of 21 at the time of application
• Must not have earned 24 or more credit hours at a
college or university
• Must have been accepted into the Summer
Developmental Program (first time attendee) at an
eligible Mississippi public four-year institution
• Must be eligible to receive federal student financial aid
and demonstrate financial need
• Must complete the online application and submit all
supporting documentation by the deadline

Academic Common Market
The purpose of the Academic Common
Market (ACM) is to share between states
specified academic degree programs
located at southern public colleges and
universities. This is accomplished through
an exchange of students across borders at
in-state rates.
To qualify you must:
• Be a resident of Mississippi.
• Select a program eligible for Mississippi
residents.
• Complete the admission process at the
institution offering the eligible Academic
Common Market program.
• Be certified as a resident of Mississippi by the
ACM coordinator for Mississippi.
Participating States
The states of Florida and Texas participate at the graduate level ONLY. The
state of North Carolina is currently not actively participating.

DUAL ENROLLMENT

A local school board, the Board of
Trustees of State Institutions of Higher
Learning and the State Board for
Community Colleges shall establish a dual
enrollment system under which students
in the school district who meet the
prescribed criteria of this section may be
enrolled in a postsecondary institution in
Mississippi while they are still in school.
Definitions
• A Dual Enrolled Student is a student who is
enrolled in a community or junior college or state
institution of higher learning while enrolled in
high school.
• A Dual Credit Student is a student who is
enrolled in a community or junior college or state
institution of higher learning while enrolled in
high school and who is receiving high school
and college credit for postsecondary
coursework.
Dual Credit/Dual Enrollment
• Memorandums of Agreement must be signed
with local school districts
• Must meet the same admission criteria as
traditional students
• Written recommendation from school principal
or guidance counselor

units and/or junior status

• 12 credit hours per term recommended as long
as a B average is earned in first two approved
courses
• Dual Enrollment – student’s can earn up to a
semester's worth of college credit in high school
(semester’s worth = 12 college credit hours)
• Dual Credit – unlimited number of college
credits

• No developmental education courses
• Dual Credit courses can replace SATP –
Biology I, Algebra I, English II, and U.S.
History (2014 legislative change)

Application of Courses
• There is no longer a need to develop
course content equivalents between high
school courses and college courses

courses towards high school graduation
requirements based on the content area of
the postsecondary course
