Initial Training-
ITN
Main features
Aims to improve career perspectives of early stage researchers in both
public & private sector :
•
International network of participants : at least 3 participants
established in at least three MS or Associated countries
•
Third countries organisations may participate in addition to the
established network
•
Involvement of private sector
•
Allowances for “early-stage” researchers (incl. first post-docs) but also
«visiting scientists » positions
•
Open to researchers from Third countries
•
Project duration: maximum 4 years

Main features
• Experienced researchers* of any nationality
*Be in possession of a doctoral degree, or 4 years of full-time
research experience at the time of the relevant call deadline
• Trans-national mobility within Member States (MS) or Associated
Countries (AC)
• Applicants must comply with the rules for mobility
*They have not to have resided or carried out their main activity in
the country of the host organisation for more then 12 months in
the 3 years immediately prior to the relevant deadline
• Application submitted by the researcher in conjunction with the host
organisation
• Project duration: 12 up to 24 months

Main features
•
(Re)integration in a MS or AC, including own country
•
Financial contribution of €15k/year for 2-3 years
•
Continuous submission; evaluated at regular intervals
•
To built on previous Marie Curie trans-national mobility
•
Previous Marie Curie fellowship (MC) of ≥18 months
•
Proposal to be submitted at earliest 1 year before the end of the initial MC
fellowship, and not later then 6 months following its end

To support European researchers returning from Third countries
•
Having, at the date of submission, been active in research for at least 3
years in a Third country
•
Rule of mobility : not having been more than 12 months in MS or AS during
past 3 years.

Financial contribution of €25k/year for 2-4 years

COFUND
Main Features:
•
To supports existing or new regional, national and international
fellowship programmes to increase trans-national mobility for
training and career development of experienced
researchers
•
Participants: public or private bodies operating fellowship
programmes
•
Community contribution: 40% of the fellowship costs of transnational fellowships
•
Duration of a co-funded programme: 24 - 48 months
•
Maximum contribution to a single applicant entity: € 5 millions

Eligible transnational mobility:
Programmes have to include at least one of the following activities:
• Outgoing mobility for a stay in another Member State, Associated or Third
country
• Incoming mobility for fellowships to researchers from other Member
States, Associated or Third countries
• Re-integration of researchers from Member States or Associated countries
who spent at least three years in a Third country

Participants: at least one non-commercial organisation + one
commercial enterprise
•
Minimum 1 from each sector from MS/AC - Third countries
organisations may participate in addition
Implementation of the cooperation programme through:
• Exchange of staff: at all level of experience, incl. technical &
managerial staff
*Exchange period: 2 months to 2 year ; obligatory return for at
least 1 year
•
Recruitment of experienced researchers
*Nationals of any country other than host
*Recruitment period: 1 to 2 years

reintegration phase:1 year)

Country (TC)

They must move from a TC to a Member State (MS) or Associated Country
(AC)
•
Applicants must comply with the rules for mobility : they have not to have
resided or carried out their main activity in the country of the host organisation
for more then 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the relevant
deadline
•
Possible return phase of max 12 months for researchers coming from
International Cooperation Partner Countries (ICPC)
•
Project duration: 12 up to 24 months (return phase : 12 months)
•
Grant agreement to be issued with the host organisation in MS or AC- in case
of return phase in an ICPC Grant agreement to be issued with the host located
in ICPC

Exchange programme
• Multi-annual joint exchange programme (balanced &
coordinated)
• Short term exchanges (up to 1 year per person in total)
• Staff: researchers, management, technical staff
• Exchanges to/from Europe (not between EU/AC partners)
• Staff are seconded (maintain salary in institution of origin
and have the right to return)
• Partner institutes select their staff for exchange
• EC contribution: 1800€ researcher/month
• ICPC countries may be eligible for Community contribution
