population estimate
• Although there are no reliable population figures on
Lesbian, Gay and Bi-sexual people, the Treasury
estimates that 5-10% of the population belong to these
groups.
• Applied to South Lakeland this means that approximately
5,200 – 10,400 people in the district are Gay, Lesbian or
Bi-sexual.
• According to data provided by Stonewall the UK
workforce in January 2007 was made up of an estimated
1.7m Lesbian, Gay and Bi-sexual people.
• This amounts to 6% of the 29.02m UK workforce.
