Safety Purpose and Philosophy
 Purpose - Make all personnel aware of safety requirements
 Safety and using safe work practices is a condition of employment and
continued work at SunPower!
 The key is to THINK before you ACT.
 No job is so URGENT that it can not be completed safely.
 Ignoring unsafe acts is CONDONING unsafe behavior.
 All occupational injuries can be prevented.

Safety Culture
Safety is a Core Value
Value (principle or standard)
vs.
Priority (order of urgency)
 Doesn’t easily change
 Can and will change frequently
 Not readily influenced by others
or circumstances
 Something that takes
precedence over another
 Takes a life-changing event to
alter a value
 Can be easily influenced by
others or circumstances
Safety will not be compromised for schedule or cost
Make Safety A “Personal Choice”; Not A Compliance
Requirement

Reporting Emergencies/Unsafe Conditions
 To report EMERGENCIES (including fire, medical, and chemical spill) Call the emergency number in Richmond ext.10800 or in San Jose
ext.11800.
– Provide your name, phone number, your exact location, and a brief
description of the situation. Stay on the phone until you are directed to get
off.
– WHY NOT call 911? If you call from your desk, the emergency responders
won’t know your exact location within the building. DO NOT CALL 911.
 Report ALL accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to your
Supervisor within 24 hours.
 If you are unsure about a safety problem, notify your Supervisor and/or
the key safety contacts listed previously.
 For building related issues, email the North American Facilities
Helpdesk at [email protected] to create a
ticket or call ext.10699 if urgent.
