Each of his three children died before
he was president and before reaching
adolescence
He was the first president to memorize
his inaugural address and recite it from
memory
In Conclusion
Pierce still is the only president
ever denied renomination by his
party
Franklin Pierce was not a
particularly effective President
and left office having not change
much
Afterwards
Franklin Pierce spent his last
years in New Hampshire
He died in Concord on October 8,
1869
